Eighteen local football players selected for All-Star game
Eighteen senior players from the football teams at Clarke County, Handley, James Wood, Millbrook and Sherando high schools have been selected to play in the Coaches USA All-Star Series game at 2 p.m. on Dec. 16 at Bridgewater College.
This is the second straight year players from Winchester and Frederick County will participate in this contest (Clarke County did not last year). Last year’s game had no admission charge and took place at Shenandoah University.
The five local schools will compete for the 35-player Valley Team, which will also feature players from Central, Luray, Mountain View, Page County, Skyline, Strasburg and Warren County. They will compete against the Mountain team, which will consist of players from Broadway, East Rockingham, Fort Defiance, Harrisonburg, Pendleton County, Riverheads, Spotswood, Staunton, Turner Ashby, Waynesboro and Wilson Memorial. The Valley won 23-14 last year.
