Wood’s Sortino signs with NAIA Clarke
WINCHESTER — James Wood senior kicker/punter Jacob Sortino signed with NAIA school Clarke University in a ceremony attended by approximately 75 people on Wednesday at James Wood High School.
Clarke is located in Dubuque, Iowa, and next year the Pride will field its first-ever football team. Clarke will begin scrimmage competition this fall and play its first varsity schedule in 2019.
A captain, Sortino connected on 9 of 11 extra points this year and punted 29 times for 911 yards, a 31.4 average. Sortino was a Class 4 Northwestern District honorable mention selection as a kicker.
Sortino holds a 3.5 GPA and plans to study communications.
